Location: Menomonee Falls, Wisconsin
No, this is no Muppet Show ladies and gentlemen. As part of my final vacation of “hot travel girl summer”, I had the blessed opportunity to witness my two close friends unite as one in a state I thought I would not enjoy as much as others. Nothing against the Green Bay Packers or anything, I just didn’t expect there to be more than a bunch of cheese and fields. Big whoop! I could see that at the Dairy farm on campus any day! But when I touched down at O’Hare airport, I would not have expected to have as much fun as I did with what adventures would be nearby.
For our first official day in Wisconsin, my friend and I paid the Milwaukee County Zoo for a visit. It’s an amusement to see what they have to offer from all corners of the world. I definitely did not expect to see an elephant with my own eyes. But hey, when in Wisconsin right?
After I bid the newlyweds my well wishes for their honeymoon before they drove off to downtown Denver, I slipped off to Hot House Tavern in Menomonee Falls with the groom’s mom and stepfather for a dish that Wisconsinites pride in. Two words, my dear friends: Cheese. Curds. I can only describe it to be a crispy ball with a gooey, warm, cheese center. Biting into one is a scrumptious hug for your tastebuds. Especially when it’s paired with the tavern’s ranch dip to aid in accentuating the flavor.
As I packed up to head on my final adventure of the summer, which will be covered in the next issue, I began taking mental notes on what I would want to see the next time we stopped into the Milwaukee area. If you need to stop-off in Milwaukee, be sure you have a moment to walk along the riverwalk and visit the Public Market too. Here’s to the surprises ahead and I’m ready to go!
