On Monday, September 12th, thousands of students took to the Brickyard, forming a meandering line of tents, blankets, and drowsy eyes full of huge anticipation. They gathered for one reason: to get their hands on a golden ticket to see President Barack Obama speak at our very own Reynolds Coliseum on Wednesday afternoon.Â
Enthusiastic students played games and sung songs as they wasted the night away, while flash mobs broke out on the east side of DH Hill. As 3AM rolled around, students stopped rolling around in their blankets, tents stopped booming with laughter, and most of the energetic buzz calmed to a peaceful air. Students curled up on the very bricks they walk across to get to class every morning and rested their eyes on the hard but promising ground.Â
Around 6AM there was a bit of confusion and worry when newcomers would try to form a third line between the already situated two lines. This move made everyone start packing their camp up as they tried to find a closer spot to the front. Luckily the situation was taken care of and everyone got settled back in their spots as those sly newcomers found their way to the back of the line.Â
After hours upon hours of attempted sleep on the bricks, officials passed out 5,000 tickets to eager Wolfpackers ready to be a part of history in the making!Â
