Day 11: Dream Job
My dream job is to be a speech-language pathologist in a school. I am majoring in Communication Disorders, with a minor in Deaf Studies. I want to become a speech-language pathologist because I want to close the gap of communication between people who have typical speech and hearing abilities and those who do not. I want to help people communicate, which is one of the most important things to be able to do in life. I also want people with hearing disorders to know that they’re unique, and shouldn’t have to adapt to hearing people if they don’t want to – they can choose to learn sign language or be oral, or even do both. I want to work in a school because I want to work with children a little older than the early intervention age. There were a many of children who were and still are bullied because of their speech or their disorders – things they have no control over. I want those children to know that they are unique – and not any of the bad words people may call them in life. I want to help; I want to inspire.
