Finals Week Study Break Ideas
Â
Ahhh! Finals week is upon us. If you are anything like me, you are stressed to the max and wondering how to function like a normal human being. Fear not, I wrote this in advance to help you out and give you some great ideas to break up the studying and get your brain power back to power through finals week like a pro!
Â
1) Take a walk
Â
Nature is so beautiful, and the weather in New Paltz is finally nice enough to forgo the heavy coat and wear a cute top. Whenever I am stuck in a rut while writing a paper or can’t retain information, I start walking.
Â
Pro Tip! Don’t throw on headphones and ignore the world. Interaction with the people around you is also crucial to keeping a good headspace during the week. Even if you don’t run into people you know, hearing the birds chirping and the chatter can be a nice reminder that the world still goes on.
Â
2) Go on a Starbucks run
Â
Reward yourself! It is always so enjoyable to sit on the patio and drink your tea or coffee. Take the time to check up on all the social media so you aren’t tempted once you return to studying. Or if you can, meet up with a friend! Bond over the mutual experience of being swamped with projects.
Â
3)Â Watch ONE show on Netflix
Â
Any 1 episode, whether it’s your all-time favorite rerun of Grey’s or a new series you want to finish. The key word here is one, because you don’t want to get sucked into a binge-watching session. Indulge yourself with a guilty pleasure, and then hit the ground running on that next paper or start going over those flashcards.
Â
4) Go shopping
Â
Seriously? I know it’s crazy, but take the Loop bus and wander around Tops for a bit. You don’t even have to buy anything, just take some time to sit with your thoughts and browse the aisles. (Tip! Grab some fresh fruit for a healthy energy booster) When you get back, snacks hopefully in hand, it will be so much easier to get down to the grind on your work.
Â
Well, there are all of my favorite study break ideas to get your through finals. Good luck! See you on the other side.
