The past two summers, lots of us took great joy in gaming. It was our favorite pastime during quarantine, and with summer approaching, I’m sure we are all excited to get back into gaming so here’s a shortlist of games that you should play this summer whenever you’re not outside basking in the sunshine.
- Animal Crossing: New Horizons

Upon its release in 2020, Animal Crossing: New Horizons quickly rose to popularity. The Nintendo game allows you to create your own unique character and design your dream island featuring some adorable creatures and some not-so-cute villagers. The game is an absolute must for the summer. It even features a DLC entitled Happy Home Paradise, which allows you to decorate and design houses and facilities for an otter named Lottie, the founder of Paradise Planning.

Stardew Valley is a farming simulation game that was released in 2016. The game is available on PC, Nintendo Switch, Playstation, Xbox, and mobile. In the game, you get to role-play as a farmer who inherited their grandfather’s old plot of farmland. You also get to meet several NPCs who live in Stardew Valley, and you can even choose to marry one of the twelve marriage candidates in the game. I married Harvey, the town’s doctor, but you can marry whoever you want or if you can’t decide, you can marry them all, but that may or may not come with some problems. However you choose to play Stardew Valley, it is definitely worth the time and energy that managing a virtual farm requires.
- The sims 4

Since its release in 2014, Sims 4 has taken simulation enthusiasts by storm! The fourth title of the Sims series has 11 “game packs,” 11 “kits,” and 18 “stuff packs” to choose from – my personal favorites are “Seasons,” “Cottage Living,” and “Paranormal.” Create yourself and your friends or a completely random sim! I spent winter break engrossed in my sim and her life. Once you start playing, you can’t stop!
