November is for sure the gloomiest, the wettest month of all. Personally, I hate this time of year with a passion. It’s after Halloween, but not quite Christmas yet. Mariah Carey and Wham! are not acceptable yet, but you know you are inching your way closer to Christmas but its just out of reach.
I’ve managed to come up with a playlist of good, alternative music to listen to while looking out a window with the pouring rain drumming against the window pane outside. These are my recommendations: Â
- Angel – Massive Attack
- Deadcrush (Lea Porcelain Remix) – alt-J
- Dre – Warpaint
- Elegia – New Order
- Fame – David Bowie
- Flume – Bon Iver
- Heaven (Nicolas Jaar Remix) – Kasper Bjorke
- Hunter – Bjork
- I Wish I Had You – Billie Holiday and Her Orchestra
- Imager – Barbarossa
- Inertia Creeps – Massive Attack
- Mad Woman – Sevdaliza
- Pain – Boy Harsher
- Reverse Faults – Sampha
- Sides – Perfume Genius
- Smoking Section – St. Vincent
- Sorrow – The National
- Stranger’s Kiss – Alex Cameron
- Telepath – Crystal Castles
- Variations – Nicolas Jaar
- VHS Nightmare – Coals
- Warsaw Street – Lea Porcelain
- You Don’t Own Me – Lesley Gore
If you are into more cheerful tunes, 80s style and nostalgia, I really recommend a playlist on Spotify by a Youtuber and musician Hayley Blais, called “STRANGER THINGS”. It’s over 16 hours of music, perfect for a chill afternoon or studying session:
