10 Trends to Help You Get Into That Fall mood

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Northeastern chapter.
Pumpkin EVERYTHING

Whether you like the smell of pumpkin or the taste of pumpkin, this fall season is bringing us pumpkin in a variety of forms. Starbucks’ fall menu is now available an includes new items, like the pumpkin cream cold brew, the pumpkin scone, and the pumpkin cream cheese muffin, along with classics like the pumpkin spice latte. Then you’ve got Bath and Body Works’ range of pumpkin scents, which inclue Sweet Cinnamon Pumpkin, Pumpkin Cupcake, and Pumpkin Apple. And this is just the start! What’s your favourite pumpkin-inspired item?

Didn’t get enough use out of your summer tanks? No worries!!

Fall is the perfect time to layer up! It isn’t quite cold enough to pull out the winter jacket yet, but you can start layering those tees and tanks with light jackets and cardigans. Layering is the perfect way to transition summer outfits into wearable, cozy fall pieces. Some wonderfully versatile layering pieces include knitted cardigans, teddy coats, duster jackets, jean jackets, and leather jackets.

Sweater Weather

With temperatures hovering in the mid-60s, often accompanied by a chilly breeze, many students can be seen wearing knitted long sleeves, chunky knit sweaters, and hoodies around campus. Some great stores to buy fall sweaters from are Forever 21, American Eagle, and Urban Outfitters.

Functional accessories

With the colder weather comes the ability to accessorize your outfit with more fall exclusive pieces. Beanies and thin scarves are a great way to keep yourself warm and add a little pizazz!! Stores like PacSun and Tilly’s sell beanies of all materials, styles, and colors. H&M and Amazon are a better choice for finding a wide variety of decorative scarves to use during the fall and winter seasons.

The emergence of warm colors

From the merchandise being sold at stores to makeup trends and decorations, the common trend is the warmer color palette that emerges during the fall. The traditional autumn color scheme includes deep shades of orange, mustard, auburn, and brown.

It’s time to break out the decorations!

Fall in nature is recognized by crisp colorful leaves, growing pumpkins, and shades of orange all around. To celebrate the season, many replicate these natural patterns in their own homes. With faux pumpkins, leaf garlands, warm string lights, and mini bowls of harvest scented potpourri, you can transform your room into a fall paradise.

If it doesn’t smell like fall, is it really fall?

Aside from Christmas, fall is the only other time of the year that has its own distinct scent. Fall potpourri, candles, essence oils, air freshener, and even body sprays are used by many to get their homes filled with that fall scent we all know.

Footwear that never goes out of style

When the crisp autumn air hits, boots are the perfect way to keep your ankles warm and add style to any outfit. Ankle boots, knee-high boots, and combat boots are the most common styles that we see during the fall.

Regardless of personal makeup style, there tends to be an overall darker theme for the fall season

As the leaves begin to fall, we leave behind dewy skin and glossy lips, and bring back matte skin and deeper lipsticks. Shades of burgundy, deep purple, and browner nudes replace the pinkier shades of summer. Witchy-vibes all around!!

Finally, the best part of the season: The fall festivals!

Fall festivals are loaded with fun from apple picking and pumpkin patches to hay rides. Plus, there is the best seasonal foods. Fall festivals are the best way to really immerse yourself in all that this season has to offer.
