Name: Nev Schulman
Age: 28
Occupation: Photographer and host of MTV’s Catfish
Relationship status: Taken (sorry, ladies!)
If you haven’t heard of/seen Nev Schulman before, Google him. Right. Now. Nev is the host of MTV’s newest show, Catfish, a show where people who have never met, fall in love online and start relationships, and Nev helps them finally unite. Oh and in case you haven’t noticed – he’s a total cutie.
Nev knows a lot about online relationships, seeing how the show stemmed from a documentary about him and his journey to unravel the reality of his online relationship. Unfortunately, the woman he fell in love with was not who she said she was, and Nev decided to help others in his situation find out the truth about their Facebook flings.
The born-and-raised New York City native discovered he enjoyed film and photography while he was helping his brother film Bar/Bat Mitzvah’s and began a production company with his brother. He especially loves photographing dance, particularly ballet.
Northeastern University, thanks to the Council for University Programs (CUP), was oh-so-lucky to host Nev last Thursday, February 21, for a special event: Catfish on Campus.
He was not only funny and relatable, but also very inspiring. Nev spoke about the struggles of college life, relationships and the importance of persistence and determination in all that we do in life. His presentation proved that he’s not only cute and sensitive, but has a great head on his shoulders and is an all-around great guy.
If you get a chance, Hulu a few episodes of Catfish and definitely watch the documentary Catfish: The Movie.
From all of us here at Northeastern, thanks Nev, for inspiring us to work hard and to fight for what we want. We love you!
