“We want reweave to be almost like an Amazon but for social good. Anything you need, we have it and every dollar spent is ensuring that people are able to live better lives. If people want to live abroad or volunteer they can go to reweave and work with our partners. Everyone knows what Amazon and Facebook are, why shouldn’t everyone know what reweave is?” – Yakira Levy
Reweave is making the world a better place day by day. Co-founded by Northeastern alumni Abhi Nangia and student Daniel Garafulic, the non-profit’s mission is to empower people to better their lives and communities by providing them with market access and investment to small and growing businesses. Individuals can get involved by investing in social ventures, partaking in projects through internships or a co-op or by purchasing the unique products made be reweave projects. Visit www.reweave.org to learn how you can get involved!
Yakira Levy is an International Affairs major with a minor in Social Entrepreneurship, who is currently in her fourth year at Northeastern University. She is a student just like me and you, except that she has pledged to “be better.” After completing a dialogue in Bali last yearm she has helped lead online and offline sales for reweave. During the summer she planned events at SoWa marketplace in the South End and most recently hosted the “be better bash” at her apartment. The team set up a pop-up shop and sold their products as well as gave out cooked goodies from Haley House and samples from their newest partner Taza Chocolate. Yakira volunteered to live on just $5 a day for the entire month of September if her friends donated $1,000 to reweave’s IndieGogo campaign.
