Vote For Our Campus Cutie, Ron, for Homecoming King!

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Northeastern chapter.

We on the HC Northeastern staff know that one of everyone’s favorite features on our site is our weekly Campus Cutie. So we were super excited when we heard that one of our own Cuties, Ron Landayan , would be running for Homecoming King this year!

We asked Ron a few questions about his campaign and why he thinks he’d make the best Homecoming King for 2012.

Her Campus: Why did you decide to run for Homecoming King?
Ron Landayan: I’m running for Homecoming King because I want the chance to represent Northeastern and convey the values that we embody to others. We’re all extremely intelligent and hard-working people, and we all possess the drive that has turned our school into one of the greatest universities in the world. It’s my last semester of college, and I want to make sure that my fellow Huskies are being represented in the best way possible, and I believe that I’m the best candidate to do so. I love Northeastern so much; I’m already pursuing my Master’s degree here, and I’ve applied for the MBA program too. I’m not planning on leaving for a while, and I hope to continue making an impact during my time here.

HC: What do you think makes you stand out from your competitors?
RL: I stand out from my competition because although I’m very involved on campus, I’m not primarily representing any one group. I’m involved in a bunch of different organizations on campus, and I’m just looking for a chance to make sure that everyone gets the chance to vote for a Homecoming King who understands them.

HC:
Do you think having been a Campus Cutie is going to work to your advantage?
RL: I definitely think being a Campus Cutie is a great advantage. Besides the fact that I’ve already been able to display some of who I am to the school, one thing I know about Her Campus readers is that they are extremely intelligent and influential women. I think it’s amazing when readers can contribute and express themselves in such an open forum. I’ve had the opportunity to meet [Her Campus co-founder] Annie Wang, and I can honestly say that she’s one of the most ambitious people I’ve ever met. She and the other founders embody the drive that Her Campus readers also display, and I’m honored to be able to share my thoughts and opinions with such a great group of people!

HC: Do you have any secret talents?
RL: A lot of people think that since I’m a business major I’m not very creative, but I love to play guitar and I always look forward to learning new songs. Although I’m usually busy all day with everything I’m involved with, I also love to find time to cook new dishes.

HC: If there’s one thing you’d want Northeastern to remember about you, what would it be?
RL: If there’s one thing that I’d want Northeastern to remember about me, it’s that I made a positive impact during my years here. I constantly try to make sure that I’m helping others while I look to improve myself. As the President of the Business Honor Society, I’ve helped hundreds of students with resume drafting, mock interviews, and more. I always look for volunteer opportunities that I can help out with; I’ve volunteered with the American Cancer Society, Cradles to Crayons, the AARP, Habitat for Humanity and other various projects both individually and with the help of groups on campus.

HC: Why should collegiettes vote for you as their 2012 Homecoming King?
RL: I honestly believe that I’m the best candidate for Homecoming King. Collegiettes should vote for me because I’ve committed years of my life to ensure that I contribute to the success of this school. Besides helping students get co-op positions, I’ve also worked with NU staff to add new employers. I’ve helped my fellow Huskies through tutoring, and I’ve also volunteered with inner-city students to help prepare them for college. I believe that I embody what has helped Northeastern rise in rankings across the board – not new buildings or landscaping efforts, but the passion and desire for success that every student possesses!
