Welcome Spring with these great nail polishes!

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Northeastern chapter.

It may not exactly feel like Spring out, but with the beginning of the week officially marking the start of the new season, it’s tempting to want to dress in those bright colors that mean warmer weather is just around the corner. If you’re like us and want to make a statement without skimping on the layers or warmth, painting on a bright coat of new nail polish is the perfect way to brighten your look.

And for girls looking to update their look and wardrobe without breaking the bank, buying new nail polish colors is a great way to do so.

We’ve highlighted some of our favorite shades of the most popular polish colors for spring.

Lavender – Purple can look great with or without a tan, which makes it perfect for the transition period of spring. Plus, it stands out without being too loud. Try China Glaze in Light as Air.

Mint – Like lavender, this color screams “spring.” Try Sally Hansen Insta-Dri in Mint Sprint.

Crackle/Shatter nail polish – My roommate bought me this nail polish for my birthday this year because she knows all too well about my nail polish obsession. You paint it over any other nail polish color, and the polish partially “crackles” away leaving a layered, textured effect. I don’t know anyone that knows how it works, so gather your floormates around so they can watch it shatter. Try China Glaze Crackle in Cracked Concrete for gray or OPI Shatter for black.

Nudes/Taupe – Shades such as nude or taupe are perfect for co-op interviews, since lime green nail polish doesn’t exactly scream “professional.”  I recommend Revlon in Peach Nectar or Sephora by OPI in Leotard Optional.

Baby Blue – This shade became popular this winter when Chanel released an icy blue color, and other brands followed this spring with more robin’s egg shades. Try Sephora by OPI in Havana Dreams.

Grey – This color has been popular for a while, but it continues to be the go-to shade if you’re looking for a color that will match anything, while looking cool at a party and in class. If you’re looking for a trendier and edgier take on this color, try a gunmetal shade, like Sally Hanson in Stormy Blue.

Gold – This glittery shade will stand out on your toes or fingers. It’s perfect for a party, or if you want to cheer yourself up on a rainy April day. Buy Revlon in Gold Get Them or ORLY in Solid Gold if you’re looking for something with sparkle that isn’t too over the top.
