On Friday, April 17, and Saturday, April 18, I’ll be performing with more than 150 other dancers in the semesterly No Limits Dance Crew showcase in Blackman auditorium. The show, which consists of nearly 20 different pieces by student choreographers, is a reflection of months of hard work by the No Limits E-board and dancers. I’ve attended three practices a week since the end of January, which, in addition to being a great source of exercise and a lot of fun, is also a significant time investment. I know the show is going to be an amazing experience for both the dancers and the audience, and I’m excited to show off my and the rest of my fellow dancers’ hard work to the Northeastern community. The variety. Every semester, the No Limits show includes a smattering of jazz, contemporary, and hip-hop pieces, as well as a few other surprises.

The music. We’ll be rocking out to some fabulous tunes, including the Bruno Mars and Mark Ronson earworm “Uptown Funk” and Janet Jackson’s “Feedback.” You might even discover a new favorite song!

The costumes. Each choreographer – or pair of choreographers – worked hard to pick out costumes that matched their choice of music. The colors alone are enough of a reason to trek out to Blackman this weekend.

The talent. One of the best things about No Limits is that it’s open to everyone, regardless of their dance background. That being said, many of the dancers are extremely talented, both in terms of technique and energy.

The people. No Limits is a pretty big group, so chances are you probably know someone in the show. Come out and support your friends!

The procrastination. With finals coming up, many students will be hunkered down in the library this weekend. What better way to take a study break than by attending an awesome dance show?

The atmosphere. You can clap as loud as you want and it’s perfectly socially acceptable to scream your friend’s name, even if it’s just to embarrass him/her.

The novelty. The showcase only comes around once a semester! If you don’t attend now you’ll have to wait until December, which is a very long eight months away.

The fun. Whatever your thoughts on dancing, you can’t deny that the costumes, music, and high-energy atmosphere make the show a fun addition to anyone’s weekend.
