1. What is the name of your photography business? When and how did you start it in the first place?
Â
It’s technically called Alix Kramer Headshots and Photography. I got the idea to take a few photos of my friends our senior year for the yearbook and the next year I expanded and ended up taking 50. I took senior photos again last summer and just love it. Portraiture is my favorite type of photography.
Â
2. What type of photography work do you usually do?
Â
I do fashion photography throughout the year for our fashion magazine, STITCH but I do paid work for headshots and senior portraits. We have a couple portrait shoots for STITCH every year so it’s great for me to be able to do both fashion and portrait photography when I’m at school.
Â
3. Who are your clients?
Â
I take senior portraits back home in MA but I do headshots at NU too for people’s linked in profiles and for acting headshots and things like that.
Â
4. What types of photography work have you done campus?
Â
I take fashion photos for STITCH. I’m photo editor for the magazine so I’m in charge of all the photoshoots which is super fun and rewarding. I also became very close with a few other people on the STITCH executive board and that’s been amazing. I did a philanthropy portrait sequence for ZTA and photographed Kappa’s day formal last spring.
Â
5. What is the best photography work you have ever done?
Â
Definitely my photoshoot for the NUFW issue of STITCH last year. It was just really fun and showed me how much I love photography. It’s hard to be majoring in something I’m not very interested in so I’m always thankful I have STITCH to get real world experience before I start looking for actual photography jobs. Â
6. How far do you see yourself go with photography?
Â
I can’t see myself in any job that’s not photography related so I’m planning on being a photographer my whole life. I’m currently deciding between taking my career to fashion photography or wildlife, so we’ll see where that goes. Who knows, I might end up a wedding photographer or events photographer…as long as I’m taking photos I’ll be happy.
