What office do you hold in Chi Omega? What are your responsibilities?
I’m one of the Community Service Co-Chairs at Chi Omega, Xi Chapter. My partner, Victoria Jankowski, and I are in charge of organizing the chapter’s philanthropy events. We plan four big philanthropy events each year. Last spring, we hosted a food event, Lambda Chi O Creprie, to benefit Relay-For-Life. We also had Chi O’merica 5k run and BBQ which benefited our national philanthropy, the Make-A-Wish Foundation. This past fall, we hosted our first Wish Week. It was a week-long philanthropy featuring daily special events. All proceeds from Wish Week again went towards Make-A-Wish. Chi Omega and Lambda Chi Alpha’s Fondue Night is my last event as the chapter’s Community Service Chair. So this is definitely a bittersweet moment for me.Â
In addition to planning and executing these four big philanthropy events throughout the year, Victoria and I also keep the chapter updated with all other community service opportunities on campus, such as Greek Day of Service, Greek Build, etc. Not only do we want to keep raising money for Make-A-Wish and grant more wishes, we also hope to raise the chapter’s overall awareness about philanthropy and get our members involved in service opportunities both on and off campus. Tell us a bit about your upcoming philanthropy, Fondue Night:
Fondue Night is Chi Omega’s winter philanthropy event benefiting Dance Marathon. This year, we are co-hosting Fondue Night with Lambda Chi Alpha. This event will take place on February 12th from 9pm to 1am. We would serve chocolate fondue at our house, and dipping food options include strawberries, bananas, marshmallows, pretzels, graham crackers, and potato chips. Additionally, we will be selling chocolate covered strawberry gift boxes at the event. These would be really cute gifts to give to your friends, families and valentines! Prices will be $3 per strawberry box, $5 per plate of fondue and $7 for unlimited plates of fondue.
Why should people come?
Let’s be real here, who doesn’t want warm chocolate fondue in this brutal cold? Besides, we have all kinds of dipping food you’d want, from fruit to marshmallows, pretzels and even potato chips! This event would be the perfect event if you are looking for something to do on a pre-Valentine’s Day night. Chocolate Fondue is just so fitting for the Valentine theme! You can hang out with your friends or valentine in the Chi Omega house, eating some chocolate fondue. Or you can simply stop by the Chi Omega house and purchase a strawberry box!Â
What do you like most about the event?
I really love everything about this event. If I had to pick one thing, I would say the food that’s being provided at the event! I’m a big chocolate and strawberry fan, so this event is actually perfect for me. I’ve been to every single Chi Omega Fondue Night so far because Chi Omega really makes great chocolate fondue! If you are a chocolate person like me, you should definitely come to the event and check out our delicious fondue. Even if you are not that interested in chocolate, you should still come! Many people simply came because of the dipping food options we provide. I mean, who can resist fresh strawberries and bananas, yummy marshmallows, pretzels, crackers and potato chips?Â
What’s your favorite treat to dip in chocolate fondue?
Ice cream for sure!
