Tell me a little bit about James and the Giant Peach!
Â
James is a 75-minute musical written for a young audience by up and coming composers Pasek & Paul. It follows the Roald Dahl story that you know with a few twists and helps adults and children alike get in touch with their imagination. It’s been really fun to work on, especially since it’s so new, and Rives Collins, our director, has added many innovative things to make it super exciting!
Â
Â
What is your role in the play?
Â
I play the Centipede along with a few other roles like “Buzz Hollywood” and “Bobby Cop”.
Â
Â
What has been your favorite part of performing?
Â
My favorite part of performing in this show has been seeing the delight in audience’s faces. One night we had a row of college students right in the front and their jaws dropped as the mean aunties were picking on James and the insects. The children, on the other hand, sit in wonder as many have one of their first theatrical experiences. It’s really quite amazing.
Â
Â
Who is your theater crush?
Â
My theatre crush is a lady who goes by the name Vivian.
Â
Â
What else are you involved in on campus?
Â
I’m involved with the a cappella group, the Undertones, and am currently Assistant Musical Director of that group. I also am on the executive board of Waa-Mu and write in the class. Next quarter I’ll be in Arts Alliance’s The Who’s Tommy.
