Just a five minute drive from campus, this newly converted hardware boasts all the upscale pub food you could want, such as pizza, burgers and great craft beer. They only take reservations for parties over eight people, so make sure to get there early on the weekend if you don’t want to wait too long!

PEGGS is a South Bend classic. Run by South Bend native and icon Peg Dalton, this establishment boasts classic diner food of great quality and at very reasonable prices. PEGGS just went underwent a renovation in January 2020, so make sure to check out their brand new juice bar and premade sections.Â

Rocco’s is the quintessential Notre Dame date night. They’ve been serving up pizzas since 1951 and they’re as good as ever. Despite the long waits, the Rocco’s staff always treats you with kindness and respect, and you can always expect a delicious pizza and a fun night. Don’t forget the garlic bread!

Those who live off campus are most likely familiar with Danny Boy Draft Works. Just off campus near the tennis courts, Danny Boy is a lively late night spot with stellar pizza, sandwiches, drinks and karaoke. It’s the perfect spot for when you’re looking to get off campus but not spend money on an Uber.Â

The Crooked Ewe is one of the most creative restaurants in town. They put a new spin on pub food and boast all kinds of unique dishes such as Elote Hushpuppies, Trail Mix Salad and Korean Hot Chicken. The Crooked Ewe also has many great vegetarian takes on classic pub dishes and if you sit upstairs you get a great view of the St. Joe’s River.Â

The Evil Czech is one of the most popular spots for ND students on Friday and Saturday nights, but far fewer students take advantage of the restaurant’s weeknight deals and brunch specials. If you love The Evil Czech (or upscale bar bites), czech out their Monday night Burger Box special, Taco Tuesday, Wild Wednesday (cocktails and live music) and Thursday Brews and Bites. The Evil Czech also has a Lightnin’ Lunch with all-you-can-eat miniature versions of their main dishes, and an epic hangover brunch on Sunday.Â

Jesús Latin Grill is The Evil Czech’s lesser known (but equally amazing) sister. They serve authentic Latin dishes that are inspired by cuisine from all over Latin America. Yesterday’s Food and Spirits over in Granger is worth the twenty minute drive from campus. This restaurant is every college student’s dream. They serve large portions of delicious American classics, and their desserts are absolutely monstrous — plan on taking leftovers home. You’ll feel at home with all parts of the restaurant decked out in ND paraphernalia and exceedingly thoughtful staff looking after you the whole time.

If you’re looking for a casual and nearby spot to grab lunch or dinner, South Bend Brew Werks is your place. Situated in downtown South Bend, this spot is small but comfortable and has a creative yet homey menu full of interesting variations on grilled cheese and unique beers. If you go when it’s nice out, South Bend Brew Werks also has a sweet outdoor patio where you can sit and enjoy your food in the sun.Â
