This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Notre Dame chapter.
On the second episode of The Irish Bachelorette, Kirsten said good-bye to two more eligible Notre Dame gentlemen. James Heisler and Sean Gleason, roommates in Keenan Hall, took the time to talk with me about their experience on the show.Â
Â
James, an engineering student with a goofy sense of humor, shared his overall impressions of the guys, Kirsten, and all things Notre Dame!Â

What does it mean to be a domer? Domer? I hardly know her!Â
Â
What is your best ND memory so far? Storming the field against Stanford and then the rain coming down. Everyone was your best friend that night.Â
Â
What is the #1 item on your ND bucket list? Make an announcement over the tornado watch speakers, the PA system that goes to all the dorms.Â
Â
What are the best and worst things about ND? The best thing is CafĂ© de Grasta…or the community. The worst thing is definitely the cold.Â
Â
If you could change one thing about Notre Dame, what would it be? Move it to California
Â
What’s the best class you’ve taken at ND? Electromagnetic Waves and Pulses
Â
What’s your favorite spot on campus? The Throne Room [my secret bathroom] … or the GrottoÂ
Â
What did you think you were going to do when you came in as a freshman? I thought I was gonna come in engineering and be an ROTC student… So that didn’t change at all.Â
Â
Favorite Domer – dead, alive, or fictional? Paul Lusak because he has dreamy eyes. Or Jonathon Weiler because he has always has your back.
Â
What do you wish ND girls knew? How do I say this without sounding rude? I wish they knew that it’s okay to go out on Friday or Saturday night in the middle of winter and NOT wear a mini skirt. It’s okay to dress warm! You look beautiful anyway. (*Aww! Thanks, James! )Â
What do you wish you knew about ND girls? How do they get to be so gosh, darn adorable?! ;)
Â
If you could go back to freshman year and tell yourself one thing you know now, what would it be? Nodal mesh analysis. [EE joke #nerdprobs…]Â
Â
Ideal academic and professional endgame? Academic – Have above a 3.0 on graduation. Professional – Be a farmer. Have a farm and a bunch of little kids and a wife.Â

Â
Tell me something no one here knows about you. I’m a pretty open book…Â
Â
Guilty pleasure song? Thinking of You by Ke$ha.Â

Why did you initially audition for the Irish Bachelorette? It’s pretty boring. I saw it on Facebook and thought it would be a good opportunity to pregame.Â
Â
What was your reaction to meeting Kirsten for the first time? “Oh… She looks nice.”
Â
Did you know any of the other guys? Uh duh… Did you watch the show?! [One’s my roommate, one’s my cousin, one’s my RA.]Â
Â
How did you feel about the dynamic of the group? I thought it was a lot of fun. I definitely hung with the guys more than her. It was a bro-fest for-shizzle.Â
Â
Did you feel like you had the opportunity to make an impression on Kirsten? I was probably one of the louder guys there, so yes.Â
Â
How did you feel about getting cut from the show? Was it a shock or did you expect it? I was pretty relieved because there was a football game the next day so I probably wasn’t going to show up to filming anyway… Plus we didn’t really have chemistry. I was a little surprised though.Â
Â
Who were you rooting for to win once you left the show? ZachÂ
Â
If given another shot, what would you do differently? Nothing. Well, I’d probably try to be less of a jerk.Â
Â
What do you wish you knew going into the show? That more people than I thought were going to be watching it.Â
Â
Was it what you expected? Yeah… I expected to go in there, be extremely awkward and my loud self. I didn’t expect Mike to get eliminated, though.Â
Â
What do you anticipate for your love life going forward? More of the same
Â
Was the experience worth it? Yeah, it was a lot of fun. It was a complete and total blast. I met some good guys. I got to watch myself make a fool of myself on Notre Dame television.Â
Â
Â
Thanks, James!Â
