Campus Cutie: Steve Treacy ’17

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Notre Dame chapter.

This week’s Campus Cutie comes all the way from East Coast. He’s got a great sense of humor, is the sweetest big brother to his little sister, loves dogs and How I Met Your Mother, and is always game for a chill movie night just hanging out. He works for the Athletic Department, which gives him many sweet viewing spots at games, and carried Duncan’s few player football team to their first almost victory last fall as a fresman. Notre Dame girls, meet Steve Treacy, a guy who will make you think twice that gentleman are only from the Midwest and the South.

Name: Stephen (Steve) Treacy

Steve and friend, Her Campus writer Alex Duffy.

Pirate or ninja?

Pirate, obviously!

Why did you choose Notre Dame?

Notre Dame had always been on my radar since I was a little kid. My family have always been huge fans. After I got in and came on my visit, it just felt different from every other school that I had visited. The campus is beautiful and everyone else shares the same values as me. It was a perfect fit!

How was it being so many miles away from your family this year?

It was tough at first, because I’m really close to my family, especially my little sister. But, with Skype I was able to stay in contact with them, and we had so many breaks that I got to go home a bunch. I was also so busy with school and extracurriculars that it didn’t bother me all too much as the year went on.

What’s the best way to make your plane ride/travel to ND go faster?

Sleeping is probably the way to make it go fastest, but if we’re talking about ways to make it fast while staying awake, watching a movie is always good! My friend and I watched the Lizzie McGuire movie on the way home once and it flew by.

What’s the best thing about living in Duncan?

The huge rooms and air conditioning. I don’t know what I would do if I lived in a different hall!

What’s the greatest thing that you did/ happened to you freshman year?

I got to go on the field during a football game for my job, which was pretty cool!

What do you think is the best random/ must see point on campus?

Inside the Guglielmino Complex is a room that has all of the Heismans and other awards that the football team has won in the past. It’s really cool to see, and I met Manti Te’o there!

If you were a box of cereal what type would you be?

Being an Irish guy who goes to ND, I’d probably have to say Lucky Charms.

What is your ultimate vaction?

For my ultimate vacation, I would love to go on a Mediterranean Cruise. I come from a boating family, so I love being out on the water, and I would also really like to see all those beautiful cities like Rome, Barcelona and Venice.

What would your “walk-up” song be?

TNT by AC/DC

Favorite ice cream flavor?

Cookie dough

What is your idea of a perfect date?

My perfect date would start off with going on a walk together somewhere, maybe on a beach or park, and having a picnic dinner. Then after we watched the sun go down, we’d go grab ice cream somewhere, and then head back to my house to watch a movie (probably 10 Things I Hate About You–if it was the PERFECT date!)

In your opinion, what’s the most romantic spot on campus?

Definitely the lakes–perfect place for the picnic in my ideal date!

If you could have any singing voice whose would you have?

Michael Bublé, hands down.

Can you cook/bake, if so what is the best thing you’ve ever made?

I actually can cook! The best thing I make is chocolate marshmallow fudge.

What are you up to this summer?

I started off the summer working for an orthodontist for a month, and now I’m working with a government agency to help promote the use of solar panels in Connecticut. I’m also DJ-ing parties for a little extra cash on the weekends and playing in a men’s basketball league.

What are your plans for the future?

I’m really not sure! I’m really interested in orthodontia, so there’s the possibility of Dental School down the road. At the same time though, I’m really into sports and I would love to find a career where I could incorporate sports into my everyday life.

Advice for Notre Dame girls for attracting Notre Dame guys?

Don’t be shy! I love a girl who’s outgoing and talkative. If you act all shy and quiet when you’re around us, it’s going to make guys think that you’re not interested in us. Just relax, be yourself, and show guys that you’re a girl who’s gonna be fun to hang out with!

So girls if anyone is looking for a chill movie hangout, your own personal DJ, some tasty chocolate marshmallow fudge, and just an all around awesome guy, you might want to take a trip over to Duncan (even more of a bonus, since there’s AC) or look for Steve on the sidelines of the sports games or in your orgo lab.

Thanks for interviewing with us, Steve! Best of luck sophomore year!

Notre Dame

I am a Science-Business major at Notre Dame. I think science is awesome, but like that I am able to experience all areas with my education! I love my dorm, breakfast food, and chocolate. I am a big foodie (hence many of my food related articles) and find health trends in society really interesting. I love to be outside, swim, and have been turned into a runner by my friends since coming to college. I am also a big believer in yoga and think every collegiate should take time, whether it is yoga or something else, for themselves each day! I love writing for Hercampus in my free time and am always open for article suggestions. ~ "Don't forget to love yourself"~
