Football Snapshot: Notre Dame vs. Pitt

On November 7th yet another game took place for the now 6th ranked Fighting Irish away against Pittsburgh. Spoiler alert: we won, but in case you missed out here are the highlights of the game. 

Pre-Game Predictions: The Fighting Irish will march onward to victory.

1st Quarter: With ND’s first possession, Will Fuller catches a pass from Kizer and runs 47 yards for an Irish touchdown and Yoon quickly follows with the extra point. Pitt’s second possession yields a field goal. C.J. Prosise left the field injured and didn’t return for the rest of the game. He’s currently undergoing concussion protocol and Kelly is optimistic he won’t be off the field for too long (God willing).

Score: 7-3

2nd Quarter: Early in the quarter Kizer completes a pass to Torii Hunter Jr., who runs 12 yards for an Irish touchdown. Of course Yoon gets the extra point. Later Fuller catches a pass and runs 46 yards for a touchdown and Yoon gets another extra point. Pitt doesn’t score.

Score: 21-3

3rd Quarter: Pitt finally comes to play and scores a touchdown with a 10 yard run from Jordan Whitehead. Their kicker, Chris Blewitt, gets the extra point. Notre Dame responds with another touchdown by Fuller complete with extra point. Whitehead and Blewitt get another 7 points for Pitt.

Score: 28-17

4th Quarter: Kizer completes a pass to Josh Adams, who runs 5 yards for a touchdown and, you guessed it, Yoon secures the additional point. On the next possession Kizer runs two yards for another touchdown followed by extra point. Pitt follows up with a touchdown by Tyler Boyd and extra point from Blewitt. Notre Dame plays Brandon Wimbush at QB, who gets sacked and fumbles the ball, which Pitt defensive lineman Ejuan Price picks up and scores a touchdown with.

Final: 42-30 (cue the alma mater)

Highlight: Kizer and Fuller continue to be a power duo offensively. Kizer completed 19 of his 26 passes and Fuller caught seven passes for 152 yards and three TDs. 

The Irish will return home next week against Wake Forest for the last home game of the season at Notre Dame Stadium!
