Fun Fact: Maddy’s high school mascot was also the Irish (Cathedral High School).
Q: Â You work with our marketing department. What kind of things do you do working for athletic marketing?Â
Each student worker advertises for a different sports team, and mine is women’s soccer. Basically, I pass out flyers and other free stuff at the entrance, and during the games I help to cheer on the student section! I want to work in marketing eventually, so it’s the perfect job for me.
Q:Â Rumor has it that you are the captain of the McGlinn flag football team…Tell me more about life as a Shamrock.
Yes, I am captain of the flag football team! We just won our last game too! Other than that, this year I’m living in a triple with two of my favorite Minnesot-ians Katie Sisk and Jackie Johnson. We have a great common room, and we love having friends over This summer I made the trip to Minneapolis to visit them along with a few other students from Notre Dame, and it was so worth the drive from Indiana!
Q: What’s been your favorite Notre Dame memory so far?
Well, I would say that the Michigan game this year was by far one of the greatest Notre Dame football games I’ve ever been to, but that’s way too cliché. Other than that, I had an amazing time at Keenan’s Muddy Sunday last spring! A group of my friends and I started a team at the last minute, and we ended up playing three games. The best part was running in the lakes the wash off all the mud!
Q: What’s something that you want to accomplish at Notre Dame before you graduate?
When I was in high school I went on a school trip to Africa, and not to sound cheesy, but honestly it was life-changing. I would absolutely love to go back to Tanzania some day. I’m working with one of my professors now on applying for a grant now to do research in Africa this upcoming summer. I would be such a dream come true to make it back there.
