Major:Â Chemistry and Constitutional Studies
Year: Sophomore
Dorm: Pasquerilla East (Pyros are what? Red hot duh)
Relationship Status: Trying carbon datingÂ
Nickname(s): Sus (pronounced Suz)
What activities are you involved in on campus/at ND?
Graphics designer for the Observer, undergraduate research, and starting this semester, GlobeMed and RareND (I’m aggressively into infectious diseases, the more neglected the better).
What are you up to this summer?
I was lucky enough to have been awarded a Da Vinci grant for this summer to continue my research under Dr. Marya Lieberman (go check out her work, it’s super rad). I wish I could say I do sexy and glamorous research, like cancer cells or what not, but instead I’m working to create a paper analytical device that will act as a “clock.” Basically, instead of clock hands or an electronic face, I will put certain reactions on the card that will change color after given amounts of time. Watches and timers are so overrated anyway.Â
What’s your favorite memory from freshman year?
Definitely randomly running into my now best friend on my way to the bathroom and then grabbing dinner on a whim – I would not be here still without her.Â
What’s your biggest regret of freshman year/what would you go back and change if you could?
Get out of my comfort zone earlier, and switch out of engineering earlier.
Any advice for incoming freshmen?
Don’t be afraid to ask for help. Whether this is signing up for tutoring, or going to the counseling center, never be afraid to admit that you need help. It’s not a matter of pride; it’s a matter of helping yourself out and allowing you to be the best version of yourself that you can be. Also, talk to everyone. You never know where your next best friend is, and there are so many incredible and fascinating people here doing such cool things that you can be made better by, if you just get to know them. Finally – more often that not, the people you go out with the first few weeks of school don’t end up being your best friends. Have more in common with those you spend your time with than just what parties you like to go to.
Describe yourself in one or two hashtags

It’s a Friday night– are you staying in or going out?
Megs, you know this isn’t a fair question because as much as I like going out and recreationally drinking orange juice as the next person, you know you can find me on your futon in my pajamas too.Â
You have an obsession with all things Lilly Pulitzer; what’s your favorite pattern?
This is like asking me to choose which one of my children I like the most – but if I had to, it would be Tusk in the Sun.
What’s with all the monograms (everything you own seems to need your signature “Susan stamp of approval” on it)?
I monogram things so I don’t lose them (except when I literally leave everything I own in Jeremy’s room by accident). I also think they’re just really pretty and I allow myself this one shallow indulgence in my life.
Who’s your roommate for next year (tell us a little bit about her!)/Tell us about this “Faux Quad.”
Unfortunately, I had a terrible room pick and ended up having to live with/next to the 3 worst people ever. Okay, fine, I’m kidding – I’ll be sharing living quarters with a rad human named Kerrianne who allows me to the best and worst version of myself, depending on which I’m feeling that day. Next door we have Megs and Kath, who are also lights in my life. Faux Quad (828 and 830 PE) always has its doors open and we love company!
Number 1 thing on your Notre Dame bucket list
Dome Dance (I’m not even ashamed about this)
Tell us a fun/random fact about yourself
I’ve always wanted to compete in Miss America with my talent being dad jokes
Who is your role-model (dead or alive)?
Mulan (I’m not kidding)
If you could be any TV show character, who would it be (and what show are they from)?
I would be Olivia Benson from Law and Order: SVU, talk about a rad female kicking ass and taking names.
What’s your go-to munchie/late-night snack?
Cheetos or bananas
Alright, be honest, can you describe your dream date?
Going on a bike ride to the farmer’s market and getting breakfast at the diner there and buying an exorbitant amount of cheap but beautiful flowers, all the while discussing current social issues and favorite books – I don’t mind a steak dinner either.
