I’m the person that’s ALWAYS tired.
There are so many amazingly talented people on this campus, and I am definitely one of them. My talent? Feeling absolutely exhausted all the time. I am so skillful at being tired that I am equally as exhausted when I have slept for the entire day as when I have work, class, homework, and extracurriculars all in one day. Have I fallen asleep in class? Absolutely. Have I drooled all over my arm on a long flight and weirded out the person next to me? Only every single time!
So how do I survive the day, when, as a very typical (or so I like to convince myself)Â Notre Dame student I have a million things to do? It’s simple! I have constructed a fool-proof plan to maximize sleep and minimize yawns during the day.
My boyfriend and I fell asleep on a road trip.
DBart Lounge Bean Bags
This is the perfect place if you need a twenty-minute midday snooze. The gigantic beanbags are by the window, so you get the perfect combination of sunshine and warmth. Plus, a lot of individuals sleep here, so you don’t have to worry about being judged for your public midday nap. Â
Cram that schedule
Cram all of your classes as closely and on as few days as possible. This will maximize your free time and minimize the amount of time you spend walking to classes, and you may be able to sleep in late two or three days of the week, or even have Fridays free. The extra free time will help you get more sleep. Â
He also fell asleep on the plane before I did.
Instant Coffee
This is perfect for those days when you kept hitting the snooze button and did not leave enough time to make yourself that jumpstart cup of coffee. Instant coffee is great because you just need hot water and a little packet, and you’re on the road!
The Perfect Caffeine Plan
Are you falling asleep already and still need to stay up for another twelve hours? Try my absolutely fool-proof plan! For the first hour, drink a bottle of lemonade. Then, drink a bottle of water within a half-hour time frame. Follow that water with a Coke Zero (bonus points if it is cherry). End your schedule with another bottle of water. I do not know why this works, but trust me. This is tried, true, and tested by me and a couple other friends.Â
I wear my PJs so I’m ready to nap 24/7!
Blankets. Blankets everywhere.Â
Dorm beds are extremely uncomfortable, which slightly puts a damper in your sleeping quality. Blankets make the dorm beds feel like your own personal blanket fort that you can curl up and get really cozy under. They make you feel warm and safe and protected and I just love that. Â
I hope your sleep gets significantly better, and you feel as though you have hibernated for an eternity!
