The Ultimate Countdown to “Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life”

  1. Discover that the rumors of a Gilmore Girls Epilogue are true. Proceed to search the Internet for any and every piece of information on the title, cast, release date. Watch the trailer. And then watch it again. And again. And again. Anxiously check to make sure that your favorite characters are all returning (including Melissa McCarthy! Yay!). Spend at least five hours that could be spent doing homework checking up on your favorite actors, finding the perfect memes for the moments of your life, and sharing them with your best friends so you can channel your inner Rory and Lorelai.

  2. Make a countdown to the release date and promptly put this countdown in every planner and calendar that you own.

  3. Begin planning the ultimate Gilmore Girls binge watch, complete with coffee and pizza (you wouldn’t be doing it right otherwise).

  4. Make sure that all of your friends who also watch the show are prepared for the hours of Netflix that are about to ensue. And that your friends who don’t watch are either converted or disowned.

  5. Start rewatching the series from the beginning, so that you can remember all of your favorite moments and Emily Gilmore quotes.

  6. As you are re-watching: make sure to have tissues handy so you can cry freely from nostalgia.

  7. Make sure to allow for time to watch your favorite episodes more than once. It is inevitable that you will watch them whether you have time or not.

  8. Pause to shop for the Gilmore Girls gear that you will need for when you watch the reunion. (The answer is yes, you do need a Luke’s Diner sweatshirt.)

  9. Talk on the phone obsessively with other Gilmore Girls fans, because they are the only ones who can understand the pain of not having the release date come fast enough. While you are at it, recall your favorite episodes and where you are at in the process of rewatching the series. Invite them to your Gilmore Girls binge watch party.

  10. Wait patiently (or not patiently) for November 25.

  11. November 25 has arrived! Curl up with coffee, friends, and prepare for the awesomeness that is going to be Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life.
