Every first Monday in May, one the most fashionable nights of the year occurs, the Met Gala. It is hosted by Anna Wintour, the editor of American Vogue, at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City. This year the theme was Manus x Machina; think futuristic, technological and of course glamorous. This year so many celebrities turned up including Beyoncé, Kim Kardashian, Blake Lively, Taylor Swift and many, many more. There were so many amazing outfits gracing the red carpet this year. Here are the best dressed from the Met Gala 2016.
Gigi Hadid
Model of the moment, Gigi Hadid, looked stunning in this beautiful sequined and sheer charcoal grey Tommy Hilfiger dress.
Kendall Jenner
Kendall Jenner stole the show, as per usual, in this blue and white, laser cut Versace dress with cut out sections. She stood out from the rest of the Kardashian clan with her simplistic style, hair and makeup.
Emma Watson
Â
Emma Watson looked elegant in this sustainable Calvin Klein dress. She helped to design the dress and it was made entirely from recycled plastic bottles. Later in the evening Emma removed the skirt to reveal built-in trousers underneath.
Jourdan Dunn
Jourdan Dunn looked incredible in this metallic sequined Balmain dress. We loved the different panels and sheer sections, as well as her sleek metallic hair to match.
Lupita Nyong’o
Â
Lupita Nyong’o stunned once again in this jewel toned Calvin Klein collection dress. Although the hair was a bit extreme at least she tried with the futuristic theme, and she managed to pull it off too.
Rita Ora
Â
Â
Rita Ora has a unique taste on the futuristic theme in this feathered and metallic Vera Wang gown. The cut out details made it even more exciting and her makeup matched perfectly.
Claire Danes
Â
Claire Danes was the true belle of the ball in this Zac Posen Cinderella style gown. The light blue dress was made with fiber optic lights that meant it glowed in the dark.
Rosie Huntington Whiteley
Â
Â
We loved Rosie Huntington-Whiteley’s simple and elegant Ralph Lauren gown. The sheer train in the back and the metallic detailing on the shoulder really accentuated the classic design.
Cindy Crawford
Â
Â
Cindy Crawford proved that she is still the original supermodel in this metallic Balmain mermaid style dress. The cut out shoulders that made it stand out from most of the sequined dresses are very on trend at the minute.
Karolina Kurkova
Â
This delicate Marchesa dress looked wonderful on Karolina Kurkova. Even if it didn’t really fit in with this year’s theme, the intricate detailing and sheer layers looked beautiful.
