Christmas is upon us! But WAIT, before you are lured into John Lewis for a cute stuffed penguin, have you considered making your own presents? I scoured the internet for these lovely gifts for you to give to all your favourite people.
These gifts burst with love and care as you have put thought, effort and heart *aww* into making them. They can all be made with recycled materials (except for the Foodie presents, that just wouldn’t be a good idea – but you can still buy Fairtrade ingredients) and are completely ethical.
For Geeks:
You can use any picture, stick it on a board and use a pre-assembled clockwork set (available here) to have a fantastically personal clock.
Â
Â
Available at most good charity shops are Scrabble boardgames with a few letters missing. Pick one up and glue the letters together into coasters. They can spell out anything you like!
Â
Â
For Snugglers:
Very cute and particularly useful at this time of year are these lovely little hand warmers. You can use old t shirts, jeans or tea towels for the fabric.
Â
All you need is a plain white mug and a sharpie. Go forth and doodle.
Â
Â
For Partners:
A deck of cards, some ringbinder rings (or ribbons if you like), a hole punch and hey presto! An adorable Deck of Luuurve.
Â
Get an old roadmap that is out of date and find the places significant to you and your OH: Where you first met, where you first kissed, where you had that perfect date and so on. Take a heart shaped stencil and lay it over the top, drawing around your significant place. Cut this out and frame it, along with lots of other significant places to show the maps of your love.
Â
Â
For Nature Lovers:
A terrarium in a jar! Fantastic for any nature lover and conveniently wrappable! The link above is a very helpful guide to how you can make one.
Â
I absolutely love these! Pick up a few tea cups from a local charity shop and turn them into beautiful (and reusable) bird feeders!
Â
Â
For Foodies:
This is definitely something to make last minute too, but it is totally adorable. Be careful wrapping this though.
Â
A similar idea to the last one but a lot more travel-suitable and will stay fresh for longer.
Â
Â
Those Really Difficult People:
A really cute present for someone you don’t know what to give. It can say anything you like too! Oh FYI, “Freezer paper” is the same as greaseproof paper.
Â
Make someone a “survival kit” for their job. A little pack full of things they might need to get through the day! Very simple and only as expensive as you would like it to be.
