Gigi Hadid and Kendall Jenner – both aged just 21 – are fast becoming household names. The pair have both catapulted to fame through their work as models in the last couple of years. Indeed, both were recently revealed to be among the 20 highest earning supermodels of 2016, with Gigi earning an impressive $9,000,000 last year, albeit just shy of Kendall’s staggering $10,000,000. To have achieved this level of success having only just passed their teenage years is astounding. However, the fact that these two girls have reached this level so quickly begs the question – without their famous families would they have achieved this?
Gigi and Kendall aren’t the only celebrity offspring to have made a name for themselves in the modelling world. The list is long, and all have been born into wealth and privilege. There’s nothing wrong with taking advantage of their connections, but at the expense of who? At the expense of those with real talent but a lack of connections and famous parents? Quite possibly. Here are just a few examples of this new brand of supermodel – let us know what you think about this issue!
