I have to admit that I’m not an experienced podcast listener. I know I’m too picky about hosts and genre to ever call myself a podcast lover, but this isn’t to say I don’t have podcasts that I love. Funnily enough, there seems to be a recurring theme in the ones I choose to listen to religiously: they’re all podcasts made by women, for women. These 4 podcast recommendations feel like an extension of my conversations with my friends, and they leave me in a great mood whenever I listen. I love starting my day with any of them, and I hope maybe you will too!

Voicenotes with Jordan Theresa

Jordan is the big sister that everybody needs. Alongside the social commentary videos on her YouTube channel, Voicenotes covers a variety of lighter topics, ranging from current affairs and celebrity culture to whatever is going on in her own life. With recurring ‘TMI chats’ episodes, she has become a voice for my own feelings and makes me feel so validated whenever I listen to her. If you’re in need of some warm, sisterly energy in your day, Jordan is definitely the one!

Baby, this is Keke Palmer

Named after the viral ‘Baby, this is Keke Palmer’ meme, this podcast is a fun listen every week. Keke just oozes humour and charisma, so it makes sense that becoming a podcast host comes so naturally to her. It’s so easy to become invested in any of her guests, no matter who they are. Her inner monologue is so captivating, and I could listen to her talk for hours. My day always feels a little bit better when an hour of it is spent with Keke Palmer.

High Brow by Mina Le

Mina describes High brow as a podcast for “cool girls and self-identified intellectuals”, and that’s exactly how I feel when I listen to her weekly episodes! Every Wednesday, Mina dives into diverse topics that have been the talk of the internet. Her opinions are well-researched and thoroughly thought through, but are still relaxed and entertaining. Mina, herself, is so cool (I highly recommend a scroll of her Instagram @gremlita) and her perspective is always so fascinating. I listen to High Brow religiously and am just obsessed with her.

Dua Lipa: At Your Service

As well as being one of the biggest pop stars of our generation, Dua Lipa is an engaging and inquisitive interviewer. She asks insightful questions and celebrates her celebrity guests’ stories while shining a light on their past works and upcoming projects. She understands her audience so well, choosing beloved guests and asking questions we’re all dying to find out. From film to fashion, literature to lifestyle, there’s an episode for everyone on At Your Service.
