Style Blog: Highlights of the Fashion Month AW13

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Nottingham chapter.

It’s the time of the year again where the biggest fashion houses gather together in four different fashion capitals around the globe to show off their latest creations for the next fashion season. Some of the best known models were on the catwalk this season such as Cara Delevigne and Kate Moss. It’s also the time when some of the biggest celebrities come together to watch the collections. Here are my few picks of fashion shows from many around the world.

New York Fashion Week

The first stop of the fashion month tour was New York. These were the famous brands that took part in New York’s Fashion Week – Juicy Couture, Rag and Bone, Helmut Lang, Alexander Wang, Victoria Beckham, DKNY, Zac Posen, Carolina Herrera, Donna Karan, Alice and Olivia, Marc by Marc Jacobs, Tory Burch, Vera Wang, Rodarte, Oscar de la Renta, Michael Kors, Ralph Lauren and Marc Jacobs. One of the biggest shows was Marc Jacobs’ futuristic catwalk with the runway set with a moon and sun. Some of the celebrities spotted at the show were Elizabeth Olsen, Liv Tyler, Miley Cyrus, Rachel Zoe and Katherine Heigl. The key trends for A/W 13 were metallics, leather and fur.

London Fashion Week

The second leg of fashion week was held in London. Designers such as House of Holland, Mulberry, Topshop Unique, Matthew Williamson, Erdem, Tom Ford and Burberry showed their collections in the capital city of England. One of the biggest shows here was Burberry Prorsum with supermodels such as Karlie Kloss, Jordan Dunn and Cara Delvigne walking the catwalk. Appearances were made by Jessica Biel and Justin Timberlake, Alexa Chung and Lana Del Rey.

Milan Fashion Week

The next stop was Milan. Some of the biggest and well known fashion houses were shown here such as Gucci, Fendi, Roberto Cavalli, Prada, Versace, Marni, and Armani. Dolce & Gabbana’s show definitely drew a wild attention with 50 models flooding the catwalk in red bejeweled dresses. Celebrity appearances were made by Ashley Greene, Rachel Bilson, Anna Wintour and Fergie.

Paris Fashion Week

Possibly the chicest city in the world, the last leg of Fashion Week was Paris, ending March 6. Some of the labels shown were Balenciaga, Balmain, Nina Ricci, Lanvin, Karl Lagerfeld, Christian Dior, Isabel Marant, Celine, Chloe, Givenchy, Stella McCartney, Saint Laurent, Chanel, Valentino, Alexander McQueen, Hermes and Louis Vuitton. Chanel, as always, was one of the biggest shows, with the models walking around a large globe. Other popular shows included Alexander McQueen and Louis Vuitton. Celebrities such as Amanda Seyfried, Nicole Richie, Jessica Chastain and Jessica Alba managed to get front row seats to the best shows.

Most Stylish Celebrity of Fashion Month

The most stylish celebrity of all the fashion weeks was Olivia Palermo who made appearance in each fashion capital throughout the month.
