5 Easy ‘Euphoria’ Inspired Makeup Looks for Halloween

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at NYU chapter.

Many of you have probably heard of HBO’s Euphoria that came out last year. The cast members are unbelievably attractive, the soundtrack is amazing and have inspired many TikToks, andthe characters’ styles are impeccable, but one thing that has gained the attention of many viewers of the show (and has inspired many fan accounts and followings , and even won an award) is the lust worthy editorial makeup looks.

I am a big makeup finantic. I’ve watched countless  makeup tutorials on YouTube and purchased so much makeup (RIP to my wallet).  But I’m not the biggest fan of ‘Instagram Makeup’, think James Charles or Jeffree Star style of makeup. It isn’t that I don’t  like this style of makeup in general, but I just didn’t like it on myself, perhaps because it can be a bit complicated. Even as a makeup lover, I struggle with doing a simple eyeliner look. That is why when I saw the makeup that was worn on Euphoria, I became so captivated! The looks were bold, but they were focused just on one area of the face –the eyes.

Another aspect that was very captivating about the makeup worn on set was the use of glitter. Given the setting of the show, a lot of the scenes are in dark lighting, Doniella Davy (the head of makeup on Euphoria) made the smart decision to use glitter as a way to bring attention to the eyes of the main characters. One can even argue that glitter is used as a motif in the story to highlight the change in the characters’ emotional state.

Since glitter played such an important role in the makeup, I thought that I would reach out to the makeup company that produced the glitter pastes that were used on the set: Lemonhead LA.

Thank you so, so much for sending samples of the products for me to try out. Let’s get into the Euphoria inspired looks!
