GORGEOUS HAIR AND MAKEUP

We all know that the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show is sexy.  Sexy models, lingerie, jewelry (hello – $10 Million Fantasy Bra, where you at?), and my personal favorite: hair and makeup.

The day of the show is a 15-hour extravaganza, which consists mainly of preparation because even these Angels don’t wake up naturally stunning.  If they did, I would cry in rage and depression.

The lead hairstylist for the show was Orlando Pita, whose magic touch is constantly called upon by the likes of Vogue and Madonna, so obviously, the guy knows what he’s doing.  Unsurprisingly, the angels (a.k.a. models) are all fitted with extensions to pump up the volume and add some length.  His tip for getting va va voom curls is actually using a straight iron!  Remember how your mother taught you to curl ribbon with scissors?  Yep, same deal.  For us mortals, I recommend misting your curls in some touchable but heavy-duty hairspray (like Suave’s), and let them cool completely before gently brushing through with your fingers or a soft brush.  Also, always curl the hair around your face away, not inward, because it opens up and frames your beautiful face instead of covering it!

The lead makeup artist was Dick Page, who is beckoned by Allure and Yves Saint Laurent frequently for his expertise.  The makeup look for this years show was a sultry natural flush.  His top-tip?  Lipstick, duh!  But not on your lips, what?  Page started each model’s transformation by swiping lipstick onto their noses and cheeks and buffing it out to create a natural glow, like a post run flush – you know, causal jog down Lexington before putting on wings and lingerie.  The eyes were a classic sexy gold + dark brown combo that always looks killer!  I recommend getting a creamy black/brown pencil and lining the eyes, thicker on the outer half.  It can be quick and dirty since you will be blending it out later!  Pat on some matching black/brown shadow after, slightly smudging the liner up and out.  Then dip a fluffy blending brush (like this one) into a metallic gold eye shadow and apply to the center of your eyelid, buffing it out into the dark brown.  Finish with a generous application of lip balm, and don’t forget to groom your brows and layer on some volumizing mascara!

This is an awesome look for date-night or going out with your girls – I will definitely be wearing this in the coming weekend!  Now that you’re primped and beautified, you too can fabulously stand on makeup tables and pose in a silk robe à la Candice Swanepoel.
