Five Gossip Girl Quotes to Help You Get Over a Crush

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at NYU chapter.

Cherry blossoms, the right amount of sunshine and Mr. Blue Sky—spring is inevitably the best season to date someone special in the New York City. However, romance doesn’t happen by will; you just have to get lucky. Here are some fabulous quotes from the CW TV show Gossip Girl that tell you how to get over a crush that doesn’t like you back.

1. “Cinderella did not Google Prince Charming.”

Don’t stalk that guy on Facebook. Talk to him! We often tend to romanticize our crush without knowing the real person. Speak to the guy, sit next to him in class and try to know him. Probably you will soon figure out he isn’t the Prince Charming you are looking for.

2. “You deserve a guy who would move mountains to be with you if he had to.”

Every woman deserves the best. If he doesn’t pay enough attention to you, he might be unworthy of your time. Keep your standards high. Don’t settle for less.

3. “People don’t tell you who you are. You tell them.”

Don’t let yourself down because of his rejection. You can be as hot as Miss Universe and as bright as Ivanka Trump, but you can’t be everyone’s cup of tea. Be who you are and work on improving yourself. If he makes you feel bad about yourself, then heck no, he can’t be the one.

4. “Good friends are hard to find, hard to leave and impossible to forget.”

Girlfriends are soul mates that you can’t live without. Don’t alienate your girlfriends because of this one guy who probably doesn’t appreciate your love as much as your friends would. Prioritize those who care about you. No matter what happens in your life, it is always good to have close friends by your side.

5. “If two people are meant to be together, eventually they will find their way back.”

Don’t put your hope up. Be patient. He may or may not like you back in the future, but you have to live the present. Focus on your priorities: school, work, family and valuable friends. Things will work out in the end.

After you survive all the crushes and the heartbreaking moments, you will eventually meet someone who treats you as the princess that you are, values your personality and possesses all that you expect from a perfect companion. He may not be the guy with whom you fell in love at first sight when you were a sophomore in college, he may not be the typical 6 foot 2, 180 pounds that you saw in soap operas, but he will be the “Chuck Bass” that deserves your love and makes your life happy and bountiful.
