We all know you’re dying to whip out that super cute (and super short) bunny costume on October 31st, wear it to a few clubs, and maybe even show it off in the Greenwich Village Halloween Parade. But until your big costume reveal, how will you be celebrating Halloween on campus? Here’s a list of events you won’t want to miss.
N’ Harmonics HOLLA-ween Concert
Date: October 30
Time: 8:00pm
Location: Tisch, 1st Floor, Reise Lounge
The N’Harmonics, one of NYU’s a cappella groups, is hosting a Halloween themed concert to show off some new arrangements and some new members. The N’ Harms is a co-ed a capella group known for their super talented singers, their belting and riffing, and unexpected arrangements. They are best known for their amplified arrangement of Kimbra’s “Settle Down.” If you want to spend your Halloween’s eve rocking out to an intense, sassy, and unique a cappella set list, check out what the N’ Harms have in store. I’ve heard there will be free pizza…
National Theatre Live Encore: Frankenstein
Date: October 30
Time: 7:00pm
Location: NYU Skirball Center for the Performing Arts
If you’re looking for some serious theater, you’re in for a fright. A one-time-only performance of Frankenstein will be playing at Skirball, by National Theatre Live, starring Johnny Lee Miller (CBS’ Elementary) as Victor Frankenstein and Benedict Cumberbach (Star Trek: Into Darkness) as the creature he creates. The show, directed by Danny Boyle (Slum Dog Millionaire), originally made its premiere in 2011 and became an instant hit. It makes its return to the stage this year in honor of National Theatre’s 50-year anniversary. Tickets are $15 for NYU students. The performance has received various raving reviews from publications including Time Out, The Times, and The Guardian.
Children’s Halloween Parade
Date: October 31
Time: 3:00-6:00pm
Location: Washington Square Arch
During the day of Halloween, children from ages 3 – 12 have a parade of their own. The parade, sponsored by NYU and The Community Board 2, is the largest free children’s event in New York City, and this marks its 23rd year in existence. Children get to dress up, receive candy, and enjoy activities like games, and face painting. If you are passionate about service and love being around kids, this event is up your alley. NYU is looking for volunteers to help stuff goodie bags with candy, and assist with the day’s activities. Interested? Click here to sign up.
