Fun Fact about yourself: I skipped my high school graduation to go to Nepal
Go-to repeat song on iPod: Rudimental – Not Giving In (at this moment, it’s always changing)
HC NYU: What are your favorite activities and interests?
TR: I love playing sports – tennis and basketball and I’m a huge sports fan. I know this is not the typical NYU, especially Gallatin, answer, but I can’t help myself! Also, I’m from Boston so I catch a lot of flack here in NYC. Besides that, I guess I just like being a social person. Can people be an interest without that sounding creepy? haha.
HC NYU: How would you describe your personality?
TR: I guess I just try to be genuine as much as possible. For me that means being a straight shooter, fun-loving, passionate and interested in the world. And yes, I have my flaws too! I definitely can be a little over the top sometimes and I am not always the best at staying in touch with people over the long term. I also have a tough time adjusting to changes in the moment – it just takes me a little more time to change gears.
HC NYU: What is your ideal romantic date in NYC?
TR: Wow, that’s tough! To me it’s so much about who I am on the date with. Sometimes the right person makes a slice, a pint of Ben and Jerry’s and a cozy apartment incredibly romantic. But, I guess I do really enjoy the classic, cheesy stuff – going to a nice, dimly lit restaurant (maybe with a view, I love those!) and then going for a walk along the Hudson or something afterwards. It’s incredible how beautiful Jersey City looks from the piers downtown at night, especially when it’s just you and someone you want to be with.
HC NYU: What are some attractive qualities you look for when dating someone?
TR: At this stage in my life, I really just look for people who know how to stay relaxed, have a good time and enjoy what happens in the moment. At 21 and in such a transient place in my life, it is difficult to even entertain the concept of putting my roots down somewhere. So I like when women are just down to earth and not trying to read too much into things. That being said, sometimes you just can’t control the emotions that develop for one another and that’s fine, but it isn’t what I am looking for at this moment.
HC NYU: If you could go on a romantic vacation anywhere in the world, where would it be?
TR: It depends on if I am truly in love with the person or not. If I am not, then I would pick somewhere warm, picturesque, maybe by the sea, say Santorini and the Greek Islands. This would be a fantastic romantic vacation spot, but if I was truly in love I would probably pick Nepal. My best friend lives there and I have spent time there as well. I know that it is the type of place where I could actually share a deep, almost spiritual experience high up in some of the most beautiful mountains in the world.
HC NYU: What are your future goals and aspirations?
TR: Simple as it is, to find something I like doing and a way of living that suits me. Right now, my main goal is to finish school. After that it is probably to find a way to pursue what I want while still taking care of my parents as they get older.
