For the Single Ladies
The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants
For the first time, four best friends spend their summers on their own. The day before they separate, they find a pair of jeans that magically fit each person, and they decide to share the pants throughout the summer. This film definitely values friendship and sisterhood over anything else.
Wild
This film is the ultimate movie for those who just got out of a detrimental relationship. Recent divorcee, Cheryl, decides to go on a self-affirming hike, stricken from her mother’s sudden death. You will sob, you will smile, and you will laugh with Cheryl. She’s not a likable character, in fact, she’s quite questionable in certain moments. But you will most definitely identify with the woman she is.

Bridesmaids
If you really want a good laugh with your squad, Bridesmaid is the way to go. After having been recently asked to be the maid of honor to her best friend’s wedding, Annie’s plans go hilariously awry. Many familiar faces including Melissa McCarthy, Maya Rudolph, and even Rose Byrne are featured and you will laugh for hours—even after the movie ends.

Breakfast at Tiffany’s
Who doesn’t love Audrey Hepburn? Who doesn’t love Audrey Hepburn as rebel Holly Golightly, a wonderfully flawed, strong character who doesn’t try to let anything phase her? If you haven’t seen this film or you aren’t aware of the iconic black dress, please watch this as soon as possible. It is a must see!
Â
Heathers
If you really want to curse out your significant other or just want to embrace singlehood for the true bliss that it offers, this 1980s black comedy is just the right choice for you. This is Mean Girls, but twisted. A love story, but with a dark ending. Winona Ryder stars as Veronica, the reluctant member of a high school clique. Many things turn for the worst due to her quite psychotic boyfriend, and the you will most certainly finish the movie with a sigh of relief that you’re single.

For the Couples
About Time
Think Love Actually, but even more romantic and endearing. Domhnall Gleeson as a twenty something lawyer in London, hopelessly trying to find the perfect girlfriend. Who else would his love interest be other than rom-com queen Rachel McAdams? While it’s heartwarming and hilarious to see how their relationship progresses, it’s also about the importance of family and the necessary evils of heartbreak. There’s even a bit of science fiction thrown into it too.
Â
50 First Dates
It was always known that Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore were the perfect match made in comedy heaven. This is a go-to movie for your significant other, and something that you can watch again and again without being sick of the repeats. Sandler’s character, Henry, falls head over heels for a woman who has short-term memory loss. The title speaks for itself!
Â
Titanic
Leo and Kate, Kate and Leo. They were always meant to be, and no matter what anyone says, they will always be Rose and Jack. The film is long, it’s quite tragic, and at times, you’ll question whether or not you want to finish when you know the ending is going to be really bleak. But seeing the irreplaceable love they have for each other is all the more reason to watch it.
Â
Dirty Dancing
Johnny and Baby are probably the two most iconic dance couples out there. Granted, their summer love story at a dance camp is fictional. If you’ve heard of the famous song “I’ve Had the Time of Life” (aka everyone’s high school graduation anthem) this movie is exactly where it’s from.
