Many factors play into trends in fashion. The economy is one of the biggest contributors. We often see minimalist trends increase during economic downturns, and then maximalist tendencies increase as the economy recovers—take for example the roaring twenties. Without further ado, here is my trend forecast for Fall/Winter 2020.Â
Keep the Clothing Minimalistic and the Accessories BoldÂ
Rick Owens

This season, Rick Ownes is giving me futuristic deconstruction vibes. Just because the model is wearing a black dress doesn’t mean the outfit can’t be attractive. 2020 is the year of accessories.Â

Clare Waight Keller is a genius. The designs are so simple yet so exquisite. The collection gives me chic businesswoman vibes; the cherry on top for me was pairing the outfit with the beige leather gloves.Â
Bottega Veneta

If you have seen their “Pouch Bag” (sometimes referred to as the Dumpling bag) or even their duck feet shoes on the internet, you can understand why accessories are now playing an essential role in outfits.Â
BalmainÂ

Neutrals, neutrals, neutrals. Keep it simple folks.Â
Unique Plays on Leather Usage
Alexander McQueen
House McQueen is known for gothic and “savage beauty.” So I was not surprised when I saw leather come down the runway for their Fall/Winter collection. This white dress by itself creates a clean and pure look on the wearer, but the additional touch of the leather harness and boots gives an edge to this outfit. You will definitely see me jumping on this bandwagon this Fall/Winter.Â

This collection is one of my favorite collections by Olivier. The leather bodice molds to the model’s body; it is crafted in a way that makes the leader drape like silk, reminds me a lot of a gladiator’s leather armor.
Louis VuittonÂ

Even though the focus for Louis Vuitton Fall/Winter 2020 is not on leather, I do appreciate the leather detailing. A theme seen throughout the collection is leather trimming on the ruffled skirts the models are wearing.Â
MasksÂ
A friendly reminder that your outfit may be important, but what’s more important is preventing the spread of COVID-19. So find a mask that matches your outfit.Â
Marine Serre x Airinum
This Marine Serre x Airinum mask was worn by Japanese model Akimoto Kozue and created during Paris Fashion Week 2020. One of the first designer masks created.Â
Burberry

Early August, Burberry released their own masks with 20% of the proceeds going to COVID-19 Community funds.Â
Louis Vuitton
Following Burberry’s example, Louis Vuitton decided to enter the mask game as well! This face shield may come at a hefty price, but anything for the latest design, am I right?
