By the time spring semester rolls around, many people look to join new student organizations. This could be for a multitude of reasons. Maybe they forgot to join one fall semester, maybe they were waiting until they got settled into college before they joined one, maybe they didn’t like the orgs they were in last semester, etc. Whatever the reason, if you’re looking to join a student org this semester with a strong female community, look no further than this list.
Her Campus ou
First and foremost, there is the lovely Ohio University branch of Her Campus. Now I may be biased (hint: check the name of this website lol), but Her Campus is a great group to join if you are a female writer wanting to gain more experience in the blog and article writing atmosphere. Or, if you are just looking for a cool group of girls with similar goals and interests, Her Campus might be just what you’re looking for.

Ohio Women in Business (OWIB)
This is a great organization to join if you are a business major looking for female empowerment. This club has so much to offer women of every major within the college of business. They have many exec positions, so lots of room for learning and leadership experiences. They also often have guest speakers, so you can learn from experienced women in the field you might have a career interest in. They also have great connections to help their members get internships and jobs after graduation. There is an application process each semester, so if you want to join you must act fast!

Chaarg
If you’re into working out but have no one to go to the gym with, or if you want to get into working out but don’t know how, then CHAARG might just be the right club for you! Their main focus is having fun, so if you are scared to join them for their workouts, don’t be! Once a week, they partner with local studios to do workouts like CrossFit, yoga, Pure Barre and more.

Society of Women Engineers
The society of women engineers is a more professional group aimed at empowering female engineers and women in STEM fields. It is also a great place to find leadership experience and friends with similar goals and interests in the engineering field. They also do plenty of fun social and professional events!

Association of Women in finance
The world of finance is often seen as a male dominated one. I mean, I’m sure we’ve all heard the classic term “finance bro” before. But the Association of Women in Finance is fighting back. They are an all-women’s organization promoting women seeking careers and leadership in the finance field. They help their members find internships, hold exec board positions, find other girls interested in the finance field and they promote diversity and inclusion.

Sororities
One sort-of all-women’s organization that is always popular is sororities. There are so many to choose from at OU and they promote so many good things like female empowerment, female friendship and bonding, leadership experience, social events, sisterhood and more. It’s also a great way to give back to the community because most sororities have some sort of philanthropy pillar. Another awesome perk, if you’re a freshman that hates living in the dorms, many sororities have houses that you can live in sophomore year and on.

Women in Art
If you’re a creative type and want an organization that reflects that, then Women in Art might be for you. Women in Art is open to all majors and experiences with art. Whether you’re a regular Picasso or are just getting started, Women in Art has something for everyone. They are a fairly new organization, but they have fun social events like games nights and lots of opportunities to create at their weekly meetings. They also have a strong focus on the relationship between creating art and the strengthening of one’s mental health.
