How I Feel Before My First Vacation With My BF

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Ohio U chapter.

The countdown officially began the week before spring break, which was actually the longest week of my life. Living beachfront in Panama City for a whole week couldn’t come soon enough. The excitement was building up, but the nerves were too because I am going with my boyfriend and only my boyfriend (and oh yeah, it’s our first trip together).  We have been together for about 10 months so we’re not exactly relationship newbies, but the nerves were definitely still there. As I played out the worst-case scenarios over and over in my head, I got more anxiety but I knew this would be an amazing time. I just was not sure what to expect. Here are some of my good and not so good expectations of Spring Break with my boyfriend.

1. Getting lost in the airport

The two of us get lost every time we try to go anywhere, so getting lost in the airport is bound to happen. With connection flights on the way there and the way back, I’m guessing we will miss at least one flight or be running on last minute. We’ll laugh at ourselves later about this.

2. Conflicting interests

The more time in the sun the better, that’s my motto. I can see that being a problem, considering my boyfriend gets hot in 50-degree weather. Also the shopping, I mean isn’t that a crucial part of any vacation? Not to my boyfriend; he would rather be dragged behind a car quite frankly than spend the day going from store to store in the Florida heat.

3. Waiting on me

Yep, I’m that girl that takes an hour plus some to get completely ready. Beauty takes time and is not something to be rushed. That is something that can be easily forgotten by your boyfriend when he is dying of hunger and ready to go to dinner but you’re still trying to perfect your winged eyeliner. I’m setting a goal to not keep him waiting too long but hey, it’s bound to happen.

4. Meal choices

Okay not everything is negative … I know getting away from the dining halls and eating some real food is amazing. Being waited on at an oceanfront restaurant and eating things that are actually fresh and not sitting under a heat lamp will definitely be a highlight of the trip for both of us.

5. Becoming closer

We can all get caught up in our busy schedules in college. so getting away from it all and experiencing new things and places together will make us a lot closer than before the trip. We are used to our everyday lives, so taking time to just relax and enjoy some time away from it all is something both of us will greatly appreciate.

If you are going away with your boyfriend this spring break hopefully you can relate to the worries I have. Despite all of the bad things that could potentially happen, I know it’s going to be an amazing trip and I can’t wait to make memories and experience new things with my best friend/boyfriend.
