Starting the semester swanky, scrumptious, and smiling

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Ohio U chapter.

A new year has begun and I know we have all told ourselves that we are going to make this year great, different, and better than last year. Here are some quick fixes to start the semester off right.

Rearrange your room:Whether you live in a dorm or off campus, switching up the layout will be one of the most frustrating yet rewarding ways to start the semester off right. WARNING: It may take a few tries to get it right, but it will be worth it!

Get a new haircut:You will be complimented by everyone you see about your new look. You could use a trim to get rid of those dead ends anyway, right? Why not switch it up?

Go to the gym:It’s not always easy, especially after starting classes and figuring out when you have free time in your schedule, but once you do figure it out…GO TO THE GYM. Even if you get 20 minutes in on the treadmill, you won’t regret it.

Change up your pictures and posters:It’s always nice to have something new to look at. Whip out those photos you took over break or at the football games and go crazy.

Buy a new dress:There is going to be some sort of special occasion this spring where you’re going to need a hot number to show off. Buy it now! There may be some Christmas money still lying around and it will give you something to look forward to.

Take more pictures:Take out your phone when you are walking from class and snap a pic of your favorite place, the coffee you just bought, or your bestie and you. You can NEVER take too many pictures.

(But try to keep it PG-13!)

Re-vamp your Resume:Unfortunately, it’s that time where you have started looking for that perfect summer internship to lead to your dream job in the future. The first step is to get that resume looking the best it can. To get some help, check out the Career and Leadership Development Center in Baker.

Rid yourself of the people you don’t need in your life:Maybe you have been fighting with your boyfriend more than usual or a friend has been giving you hell. Regardless, you don’t need that. You don’t want to start the semester off with all that emotional baggage holding you back. It may take some time, but you will be happier in the end.
