What are the biggest accomplishments of your average college student? Maybe it was getting into your dream school. Maybe you lead your high school soccer team to a state championship. Maybe it was finally being able to afford buying a new car.
Freshman journalism student Summer Schmier published her book this year titled “Lilah Keeper and the Deceiver’s Heir.”
The book follows Lilah Keeper, a teenager who has the strange ability to make her dreams a reality. Taking place in a secluded town shut off from the rest of the world, Lilah must avoid the town’s evil ruler, Casimir, who is on the hunt for the one with the Gift so he can use it for his own wicked agenda.
A natural storyteller, Schmier first began writing stories when she was eight years old. In high school she began to write what would later become “The Deceiver’s Heir,” an idea that stemmed initially from her grandmother.
“I was about a third of the way done writing and I had no idea what the main idea was going to be,” Schmier said. “And my grandma told me about a dream she had one night where my grandpa came out of her dream and into real life.”
Her book is the third in what will be a trilogy. After college, Schmier hopes to have her life figured out and her books well known.
“Lilah Keeper and the Deceiver’s Heir” can be purchased on Amazon or at Little Professor Book Center in Athens, Ohio, for around $11.
