With flowers blooming and campus warming up, hammocks can be seen strung between trees with students studying and socializing. Personally, I never thought that I would ever get a hammock. Too expensive, too hard to use, too high up, too *insert every excuse in the book*. After 2 semesters have been spent sitting in friend’s hammocks, I finally decided that I needed one for myself. After a weekend spent in my hammock, here are just a few reasons why you should get one too:
Â
Relaxing: Swinging in a hammock after a long day of classes is a great way to distress. Whether you are with friends or alone, it is a nice way to take a break, put your feet up and just hang.
Sleeping: Instead of taking a nap in your dorm, take a nap outside in a hammock. The fresh air and sounds of nature help rock you to sleep. This also gets you outside instead of staying in all day long.
Â
Homework: Working on school work in your dorm or the library all the time can get old. Taking work outside and in the hammock changes the scenery and will boost creativity.
Â
Socializing: Hammocking with friends who also have hammocks is a great way to socialize. You can even purchase a two-person hammock so you and a friend can swing together.
Cheap: There is no need to purchase an expensive, name brand hammock. You can find a two-person hammock that comes with straps online for as low as $15.
Â
Easy to use: My biggest fear was that I would not be able to put it up. Hammocks are very easy to use. With help from a tutorial online, friends who own hammocks already and some trial and error, you will be in a hammock in no time.
Outdoor fun: It can often be hard to remember to have fun outside when you have classes all day long. Having a hammock allows you to be outside and catch some sun rays.
Â
Happiness booster: Being in a hammock gives a boost of happiness and energy that will bring joy to your daily life.
Â
Hammocks offer a variety of fun that will keep you happy during the warm months of the school year. At the end of the semester, all I can think is how happy I will be to come back to school and use my hammock again.
