Her Campus Oklahoma State is just as excited about Spring Break as all of our readers. While we know many of us have plans to go somewhere sunny, snowy or something in between, we also know that sometimes things come up and we can’t really go very far on Spring Break.
But not to worry! We’ve got those of you who aren’t able to travel far covered with some great ideas to do Spring Break around the state.
Hit the Clubs
Get a group of friends who are also sticking around town and go grab some dinner at Bolero Spanish Grill & Tapas Bar before heading to Club One15 in OKC Bricktown or do some mexi/margs at El Guapo’s Cantino before hitting up the Enso/Electric Circus combo in downtown Tulsa.
Go Outdoors
You don’t have to go far to get to Lake McMurtry, with its 28 miles of biking/hiking/running trails, two 18-hole disc golf courses, kayak rentals and plenty of camping sites to start a campfire and hang out with friends or your honey. Just 10 minutes west of Stillwater, Lake McMurtry is an easy and cheap way to get outdoors over Spring Break.
Take a Spa Day
Located just a few hours away in Sulphur, Oklahoma, The Artesian Hotel, Casino & Spa is a luxurious way to treat yourself over the break. Not only do you get the spa experience you probably need from all your midterms, but you can also check out some of the many nearby attractions like a stomp dance demonstration at the Chickasaw Cultural Center.
Catch a Concert
If music is more your thing, there are several great bands you can catch in Oklahoma over Spring Break. Tulsa’s Cain’s Ballroom welcomes Led Zeppelin frontman Robert Plant with the Sensational Space Shifters on Sunday, March 13. Cain’s also hosts AWOLNATION and PVRIS on Tuesday, March 15. For you indie rockers, Tulsa also hosts Cage the Elephant on Friday, March 18 at the Cox Business Center.
Go on a Road Trip
Sometimes just being out on the open road is freedom enough over Spring Break. There are many pre-planned road trips you can check out to explore the state, such as Oklahoma A to Z or Roadside Oddities along Route 66. Or you can be brave, get on Google maps and plan your own trip to a part of the state you’ve never been.
