The Admirals are an indie/alternative band based out of Stillwater, Okla. They are often found playing shows on The Strip, at Eskimo Joe’s and in the city.
Colton Tucker, lead vocalist and guitar player, and Brett Murphy, on the drums, have known each other since childhood in Edmond. Cory Brewer, who plays bass, also went to high school with them. However it wasn’t until college at OSU that Andrew Bair came into the mix after meeting them at a show and the band began to form. Bair produced, recorded and engineered the Admirals first demo in his home studio. He also plays several keyboard and percussion parts.
“We signed to an awesome label that has released some of MY musical hero’s over the last 20 years and just started hitting the pavement,” Bair said.
The band has branched out and is becoming increasingly popular in surrounding areas, playing shows all over the United States. There are many places they enjoy playing, but Bair said performing close to home is the best.
“We’ve always enjoyed playing hometown shows at College Bar,” Bair said. “It’s pretty grass-roots, but the shows always get insanely crazy. And we get to see a lot of our friends, which is fun.”
With the unknown of the future the Admirals are sticking to what they do know. The band just finished putting together their first full-length record and is excited to release it.
“A short-term goal after we release it is to try to get every set of ears on the planet to hear it,” Bair said. “We’re probably going to take that route or die trying.”
