Bootiful and Quick Halloween Costumes

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at OK State chapter.

Chilly nights, falling leaves and pumpkin patches can only mean one thing: Halloween is here! Whether you’re going to a Halloween get together with friends, having a scary movie night or trick-or-treating with family, everybody needs a festive costume for the occasion. Lingerie and animal ears is always a fall-back, but if you’re not looking to dress up as a “Mean Girl” then here are a few other just as fun and easy options.

Most girls have a chambray shirt somewhere in their closet thanks to the popular trend. With a few accessories this can quickly be turned into a costume. Tie a red bandana with white polka dots around your head and strike that popular pose to show off your muscles. Ta-da, you’ve been transformed into the iconic Rosie the Riveter.

Another costume that is super fast to whip together and can be created from items you may already have is Where’s Waldo. Blue pants or jeans for the bottom half paired with a red and white striped shirt are the base for this costume. Waldo traditionally wears horizontal stripes, but vertical ones will still get the point across. Junior Brooke Deason, shown below, used this variation and pulls off the costume for a Halloween hang out. To top it off throw on a pair of black rimmed glasses. If you don’t already own a pair, you can buy some cheap ones at any drug store and punch out the lenses.

Another option is to dress up as a representation of the state you’re from or any state you want. For Texas wear cowboy boots and daisy dukes with a plaid shirt. Hawaii can be represented with a lei and tropical sundress. If you have an I “heart” NY T-shirt, you can portray the Big Apple. A boa and mask with a black dress is perfect for the Louisiana Mardi Gras theme. Every state has it’s own identity, just find the clothes to match.

Whatever you decide to dress up as for Halloween, just remember to have fun and stay safe!
