Oklahoma State University students will have four chances to see senior theatre major Kayla Hurd star as Madame Arcati in OSU theatre’s mainstage production of Blithe Spirit.
The Oklahoma City native has been interested in theatre since she was 12 years old. When she came to OSU she knew she wanted to be a theatre major but participated mostly behind the scenes, helping back stage and even doing a few director projects.
When she heard about auditions for Blithe Spirit at the beginning of this semester, she decided to throw her hat in the ring. She ended up landing one of the lead roles as Madame Arcati.
“Madame Arcati is so amazingly crazy,” Kayla says. “ She isn’t afraid to look ridiculous because she truly believes in herself. I’m very self-conscious, and I’ve had to learn to get over that! I’ve had to make some crazy movements on stage!”
Kayla is most excited about having people come see the play this weekend. She knows that everyone involved with the production has put in so much hard work, and she is honored to be a part of it. She guarantees a weekend full of laughter!
Blithe Spirit will have four shows this weekend: Thursday, Nov. 12 at 7:30 p.m., Friday, Nov. 13 at 7:30 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 14 at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, Nov. 15 at 2:30 p.m. All shows will be in the Vivia Locke Theater of the Seretean Center for the Performing Arts.
