The end of the semester is approaching, and many collegiettes are preparing to graduate and head out into the professional world. If you haven’t already lined up your post-college plans, here are a few ideas to help get you started.
Finding a job
While it may seem like everyone has already secured their post-grad job, the truth is that many companies are still hiring, and many seniors are still searching for the right opportunity in the right city. Don’t feel put off if you don’t know where you want to work yet, or even if you don’t know where you want to go. The hardest part of graduating college is having to get into a new routine. For the lest four or so years, Stillwater has been home, and your greatest time commitment was more than likely attending classes and completing coursework. Now that you have to make one last “enrollment” decision, it’s scary. Just remember, just like you could drop/add classes in college, you aren’t required to stay somewhere that turns out to not be a fit. Even better, as you go on interviews you have the chance to say no beforehand. So don’t stress out about not knowing for certain what you want, just start looking and try some things out.
Here’s a list of places to search for jobs both in and out of Oklahoma.
If you aren’t graduating, but want to be prepared.
This time of year also affects those students that aren’t graduating. Seeing all of the graduation supplies and announcements, as well as having friends who are setting out in the real world, can make you feel like you aren’t ready for when your own time comes. If you’re looking to have an impressive resume, or you just want to start making connections for when you graduate, internships are a valuable experience. At this point in the year, most internships have already hired for summer 2015. However, rising seniors can participate in virtual internships during the coming school year, or do internships while attending their final semesters. Rising juniors have the opportunity to begin applying for internships for summer 2016.
If you’re looking for an internship you can start with the above resources, as most of those websites also have options for current undergraduate students. Below, options that are just for internships are also included.
