On the morning of Saturday Nov. 16th, groups of college students volunteered to hit the streets to provide some nonprofit community service. They went around offering help with anything from outside yard work to inside household chores to assist the elderly, disabled, or just any people who were in need of an extra hand in the Stillwater area.
One of the volunteers, Leslie Shuck, said, “It was so rewarding to help people who couldn’t be doing these types of things themselves. We raked one elderly lady’s yard who said her leaves were so bad that she couldn’t even see her puppies when she let them outside. She was so appreciative of our help and even brought water and cookies out for us.”
Into the Streets is an annual event at Oklahoma State University and it’s a great way to show that our generation isn’t so bad after all, so make sure you don’t miss out next year.
