It’s finally here. Fall.
We all know that you’ve just been dying to break out those Autumn color sweaters and cozy, pumpkin-scented candles. Although it may be 90 degrees outside still, it’s officially Fall, so let’s talk HOME DÉCOR! Transforming your space can be difficult if you’re in small space and on a tight budget, as most of us are in college. Here are 5 tips to mastering a full home transformation on nothing but pennies.
1. Get Creative
This first thing I do at the beginning of each season is look to see what I already have. Working on a small budget means getting creative with what’s already at your disposal. The key is to tie in fall colors through everything. This looks like reds, yellows and deep oranges. Consider setting out a color blanket across your couch or setting out pumpkin arrangements by the front door.
2. Make Your Own Décor
Pinterest never goes out of style. Host a crafting party at your house or attend a painting class to add a personal touch to your fall decorations.
3. Aroma Therapy
The easiest way to transform your space is to light a few candles and spread them out through your house or apartment. (Be sure to make your elements compliment each other.)
4. Hit the Dollar Section
Seasons come and go so quickly that it isn’t always worth it to spend $50 on fake flowers and new door mats. I always make sure to browse the cheap sections at markets and dollar stores. You might not find a magnificent centerpiece, but you’ll save a fortune by purchasing your accent pieces at places like this.
5. Add to Current Pieces
If you have a flower vase on the counter, add an accent of fall colors. If you have basic colored pillows on the couch, add one or two small, deep Autumn colored pillows (or blankets). You don’t have to redesign your whole space, just add to the undeniably cute décor we’re sure you already have!
