I’ve had acne for as long as I can remember. It started off with little bumps on my forehead but nothing too major. But as I got to my junior year of high school, my acne became severe. Close to cystic acne, my skin became clustered with red painful bumps that makeup couldn’t even cover. Ever since then, I became obsessed with skincare. I would spend hours and hours engrossed in face mapping, looking at the different regions of the face and why acne pops up there. I went through numerous different acne treatment plans, like Proactive. All which worked for a couple months and then stopped. I tried everything: Amazonian clay masks twice a week, no makeup, Neutrogena skincare products, salicylic acid scrubs, witch hazel, cutting out dairy, and so much more. Nothing seemed to help long term. I was in defeat over my skin.

It wasn’t until a couple of months ago when a dermatologist suggested I use a tea tree oil cleanser on my skin. In a couple weeks, my skin had transformed from clustered with acne to only a few bumps. As time went on, the texture of my skin improved, the red bumps had disappeared, and my acne scars had started fading all because of this tea tree oil cleanser.

Tea tree oil is a powerful acne fighter. Many studies have shown how it helps reduce the amount and severity of acne. It contains a number of compounds that kill bacteria that can cause acne breakout as well as reduces the level of these acne breakouts. In addition, it has anti-inflammatory properties that help to reduce the inflammation associated with acne. The oil is not safe to ingest but works perfectly as a topical way to treat acne. The oil helps in a process of disinfection that dries out whiteheads, blackheads, and pimples, and there are many ways to use it. You can mix a drop or two in with distilled water and apply it to your face. You can even add to some coconut oil to put on your acne scars to help them fade. I used it through a facial cleanser from the company Ajanta, available for purchase on Amazon.

Over a period of two weeks, my skin was transformed and I still use tea tree oil daily. Breakouts are less frequent, my skin has never been smoother, and most importantly, I have never felt more confident.
