Halloween is my favorite time of year. It’s the time to get creepy and creeped out. The best way to get in the spirit for me is to binge the best Halloween-esque shows there are. If you don’t like being scared but still love Halloween, here’s my top ten shows to get in the spooky spirit. Here’s a mix of comedy, drama and spine-tingling things to watch.
10. iZombie
This quirky imaginative show is about a medical student turned zombie who eats brains to solve crimes. This is for viewers who love crime solving shows and love to figure out mysteries. The undead star of the show is just the icing on the cake for those who are in the spooky spirit.
This silly Disney show is about a high schooler who gets punished by receiving a babysitter, who is then revealed to be a (Gasp!) vampire. It’s a show that keeps it light for those who just like the funny side of Halloween. Being only two seasons makes it perfect for those who want something low-commitment for October.
For the Anime fans out there, this fantasy world is perfect for those who love legends brought to the modern day world. The Devil is brought to Tokyo and has to figure out how to get back home somehow. It’s a hilarious show that still gives the black magic vibes of the ghostly season.
7. Charmed
This 2000s show is about three sisters who discover they are witches and use their powers to fight warlocks, demons and all kinds of evil things. This drama explores the friendships between the sisters and gives much more depth to the show than its fantasy title would imply. For those who like a well rounded and exciting watch, this show is for them.
Werewolves and impulsive teenagers? These two things make a perfect combination in this series that’s filled with drama and comedy that entices those who love twisting and changing storylines.
This classic show is full of psychological short stories that are both entertaining and creepy. The black and white feel of this show just helps to add to the nice uneasy feeling of the stories, while the sometimes cheesy acting keeps you from scaring your socks off.
4. A Series of Unfortunate Events
A show about three orphans doesn’t sound particularly fun, but this show uses enjoyably dark and dry humor to keep viewers attached to this binge worthy show. This funny gothic comedy gives the perfect creepy Halloween vibes for those who love to get creeped out and still find the weird fun in it all.
3. Scream Queens
For those who like something a little more pop-culture centered, Scream Queens has a star studded cast with figures such as Ariana Grande, Emma Roberts, Jamie Lee Curtis, Nick Jonas and many other iconic names. The show is set at a college where there have been reports of a serial killer around. This show does have some gory scenes but keeps an overall light and fun feel to it.
2. Buffy the Vampire Slayer
Killing evil vampires while dealing with the dramas of teen life is no big deal for Buffy, the star of this cult classic show. The 90’s era special effects and trends give the show a nostalgic feel, while still being quality entertainment. This show is best for fans who just want to make evil eat dust while still looking fabulous. As always, the vampires, ghosts and black magic make it the perfect spooky show candidate.
What respective Halloween TV list doesn’t have the iconic creepy and kooky family that embodies the spirit of Halloween? This original ghastly show is weird, wild, and a classic with its tombstones, monsters and torture racks. It’s best watched with family or friends, so it provides a good excuse to have a Halloween watch party.
