There are various differences between the West and East Coasts of the United States. People talk, act, and dress differently depending on where they live in the country. When people refer to the West Coast, they often mean California, and when people refer to the East Coast they often mean New York.
Weather
On the West Coast, it is warmer most of the year. On the East Coast, half of the year it is hot and the other half of the year it is cold. Some places on the East Coast, like Florida, are southern and warm.
Slang
On the East Coast, people say words like “mad” or “sketchy.” On the West Coast, people say words like “fo’shizzle.” Here are some meanings of slang across the country. The milk tea with tapioca drink that many people drink is also called something different on each coast. People on the West Coast call it “Boba.” While on the East Coast, it is called “Bubble Tea.”
How Winter Holidays Are Celebrated
On the East Coast, most people celebrate the winter holidays. There is snow around in the northeastern states during the winter, and everyone spends time with their family and friends. On the West Coast, they are celebrated differently. More religious people celebrate Christmas. The weather is warmer and there isn’t as much snow. People sometimes just go out to Disney to celebrate holidays.
Clothing
People on the West Coast dress more casually. They dress loosely for the warmer weather. People on the East Coast dress more sophisticated. They also dress warmer when it it cold outside.
Food
“In and Out” is popular on the West Coast while places like “Shake Shack” are popular on the East Coast. People eat more Spanish cuisines in the west. Foods like pizza are eaten on the East Coast. The East Coast eats more meals with meat and vegetables. In the west, people eat out more than in the east.
